"My career began in 1972 when I went into dairying and soon after attended the Cheshire College of Agriculture. I then became a working farm’s manager, looking after suckler cows and sheep in Northumberland. Estate management was added to my portfolio when I became Factor / Farm Manager in Fife from 1984 to 1991. Shortly afterwards I spent three years at The Royal Agricultural College, Cirencester where I gained a BSc in Rural Estate Management.
I qualified as a Chartered Surveyor while working for the firm of West Highland Estates in 2000. Subsequently I worked for Glen Nevis Estate in their tourism enterprise, before joining Scottish Natural Heritage as an Area Land agent for five years. I was then employed by Bell Ingram, Chartered Surveyors, before starting my own business as Ted Carr, Estate & Farm Management. I have a Scotvec in wildlife conservation, and field sports have played a big part in my life. I am also the inventor of the Carr sheep crook.
